Today I’m covering an easy and delicious “Fruit Custard Recipe” which is consumed as dessert.
Typically custard is prepared with Egg Yolk and Cream but for this recipe I have used “Eggless” readymade custard powder which is prepared from corn flour and easily available in the market.
The consistency of Fruit Custard should neither be very thick nor be runny.
Let’s begin with the perfect Fruit Custard Recipe.
INGREDIENTS:
INGREDIENTS |
---|
½ ltr or 500 ml Milk |
2 tsp Custard Powder |
½ cup Milk again (for slurry) |
1 cup or 100 grams Sugar |
Some Fruits and Dry Fruits of Choice |
METHOD: (Fruit Custard Recipe)
- Boil ½ ltr milk in a pan. Stir occasionally. Let the milk come to a boil.
- Turn the flame on low to medium.
- Take another bowl and prepare custard slurry in it.
- For this custard slurry, add 2 tsp of Custard Powder in ½ cup of Milk. Mix it well.
- The milk for custard slurry should be at room temperature. Don’t add custard powder directly into hot milk. It will turn lumpy in hot milk. As a result, the custard won’t be smooth and creamy. That’s why custard should always be mixed in milk which is kept at room temperature.
- Thick custard mixture or slurry is ready. Keep it aside for further use.
- Add sugar to the boiled milk. You can adjust the quantity of sugar as per the taste. Mix it well.
- Now add custard slurry to it. Add it in small quantities and keep on stirring while adding. It will turn lumpy or settle down if we don’t stir in between.
- Bring it to a boil but don’t overcook it. Let it cook for only 1-2 minutes after a boil. This is just to remove the rawness of custard entirely.
- Custard with perfect semi thick consistency is ready after blending well into the milk. Neither too thick nor too runny consistency.
- Turn off the flame and transfer it into a bowl. Let it cool down at room temperature.
- Add a choice of fruits and dry fruits to it.
- I am using Oranges, Strawberries, Pomegranates, Grapes and Cashews here.
- Refrigerate it for about 2-3 hours. It gets thicker after cooling down.
- Super creamy and luscious Fruit Custard dessert is ready to serve. It tastes heavenly.
