INGREDIENTS: (To Cook Quinoa)
1 cup Quinoa |
1 ½ cups Water |
a pinch of Salt (optional) |
INSTRUCTIONS: (To Cook Quinoa)
- Rinse the Quinoa: Place the Quinoa in a sieve whose holes are smaller than the grains of Quinoa. Rinse the Quinoa thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear underneath. Rinsing helps remove its natural coating, called saponin, which can give a bitter taste.
- Combine Quinoa and Water: In a saucepan, combine 1 cup Quinoa with 1 ½ to 2 cups Water. Add a pinch of Salt if desired.
- Boil the Quinoa: Bring the mixture to a boil over medium to high heat.
- Simmer: Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid, and let it simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes. or until the liquid is absorbed.
- Fluff and Rest: After Quinoa gets cooked, switch off the flame. Remove the saucepan from the stove and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes. This allows the Quinoa to steam and finish absorbing any remaining moisture.
- Fluff with a Fork: After resting, use a fork to fluff the Quinoa gently. This step helps separate the grains and prevents them from clumping together.
- Serve: Your perfectly cooked Quinoa is now ready to be served as a side dish, added to salads, or incorporated into various recipes!
Quinoa’s mild, nutty flavor makes it a versatile ingredient that pairs well with different flavors and ingredients. Feel free to experiment with herbs, spices, or add-ins to suit your taste preferences!
Note :
