Momos, dim sum, wontons are different names of this savoury snack and originally this is a Tibetan recipe and a variety of savoury dumpling. This street food is very popular in Tibet, China, Nepal, Bhutan and northern parts of India.

Basically, all purpose flour is used to make the Momos dough but you can use the wheat flour also. This has a stuffing of finely chopped vegetables like carrots, green beans, spring onion, crumbled cottage cheese (paneer), crumbled tofu, mushrooms, meat, chicken and shrimp and spiced lightly to get a balanced taste. Momos can be steamed or deep fried and served with spicy dipping sauce.

  7. Place 2-3 tsp of prepared vegetable stuffing in the centre. Don’t overstuff it. Lift the edge from one side and fold it little inside and little outside alternatively. Join all the pleates in the centre and seal the top by pressing in middle to form a pouch.
  8. Prepare a steamer pot. Heat 1-2 glasses of water in a streamer over medium flame and place stand in it. Place momos over it and momos should not touch water in steamer.
