Posted in : RECIPES on by : Garima Tags: Bruschetta, Bruschetta Recipe
Bruschetta, pronounced as “broo-SKEH-tah,” is a classic Italian antipasto appetizer, which has made their mark in the culinary world for its simplicity, versatility, and burst of flavors. Originating from Central Italy, this dish has evolved into various versions and gained popularity globally.
The term “Bruschetta,” comes from the Italian word ‘Bruscare,’ meaning ‘to roast over coals.’ Traditionally it consisted of “Grilled Bread” rubbed with “Garlic” and topped with “Olive Oil, Salt, and Pepper.” Commonly used bread includes Baguette, Ciabatta or Sourdough. Toppings range from diced Tomatoes, fresh Basil, Mozzarella, to unique blends like Avocado, Strawberries, or Balsamic Glaze.
Let’s get started with the recipe.
INGREDIENTS:
1 Baguette or any Bread Loaf (Sliced) |
Extra-Virgin Olive Oil (for brushing) |
2 tsp Extra-Virgin Olive Oil (for mixture) |
2 Garlic Cloves (minced) |
4 Tomatoes (Diced) |
6 – 8 Fresh Basil Leaves (Chopped) |
1 tsp Balsamic Vinegar (optional) |
Salt and Pepper to taste |
Chilli Flakes (optional) |
Cheese (optional) |
Preparing Bruschetta:
- Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the diced Tomatoes, minced Garlic, chopped Basil, extra-virgin Olive Oil, Balsamic Vinegar (if using), Salt, Red Chilli Flakes, and Pepper. Mix well and set aside to let the flavors meld together.
- Slice the Baguette or any Bread Loaf into half inch thick slices. Brush both sides of each slice with Olive Oil.
- Place the bread slices on the grill or in the oven and grill or toast until they are golden brown and crisp.
- Once the bread slices are toasted, remove from the heat and place on a serving platter.
- Rub each bread slice with Garlic for an extra kick and drizzle with quality Olive Oil.
- Then, add the toppings, ensuring a beautiful presentation that entices both visually and aromatically.
- For toppings, give the Tomato mixture a final stir, then spoon a generous amount of the mixture onto each slice of toasted bread.
- Top it with Cheese if desired. I’m using a blend of Mozzarella and Cheddar Cheese here. Heat it and allow it to melt.
- Serve the Bruschetta immediately as an appetizer or a light snack.
Enjoy your homemade Bruschetta with Tomatoes! It’s a delightful snack that bursts with freshness and flavor, perfect for any occasion or gathering.
