Chotiwala Restaurant in Rishikesh

During my recent visit to serene city Rishikesh, exploring its iconic landmarks, I culminated the day by experiencing a delightful dinner at “Chotiwala Restaurant“.

Recent Visit to Rishikesh Famous Locations

Rishikesh, adorned by the majestic Himalayas and tranquil Ganges, is renowned for its spiritual significance and mesmerizing beauty. Exploring places like Laxman Jhula and Triveni Ghat was an enriching experience.

Opting for Dinner at Chotiwala

After a day filled with exploring Rishikesh’s wonders, the choice for my dinner fell upon “Chotiwala” which is known for its authentic Indian cuisine and vibrant ambiance.

Location of Chotiwala Restaurant

Location: Atma Prakash Marg, Swarg Ashram, Distt. Pauri Garhwal, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand

Chotiwala Restaurant, situated near the famous Laxman Jhula, in the serene city of Rishikesh, is a culinary heaven for food enthusiasts. Offering a blend of traditional and contemporary Indian cuisine, this restaurant has garnered a reputation for its exquisite dishes and vibrant ambiance.

First Impression and Atmosphere

As you step into Chotiwala Restaurant, the bustling ambiance immediately captivates you. The lively atmosphere resonates with the laughter and conversations of the diners, creating an inviting aura.

The Mascot: Adding Charm to Chotiwala

A unique attraction at Chotiwala is its entrance adorned by an enigmatic mascot, with a painted face and sporting a ‘choti’ (a distinctive hairstyle). This adds an extra touch of allure to the restaurant’s ambiance, drawing attention and curiosity from passersby.

The Delectable Dosa Experience at Chotiwala

Perusing through Chotiwala’s menu, I opted for Masala Dosa for my dinner meal.

Size and Presentation

The Dosa, a South Indian delicacy, served at Chotiwala, stands out for its generous size and impeccable taste. As it arrived at the table, its sheer proportions were striking – large enough to satiate a single person’s hunger.

Unique Addition: Roasted Peanuts in Masala Dosa

The inclusion of roasted peanuts within the dosa’s masala was an innovative twist, imparting a crunchy texture and a distinct nutty flavor.

Taste and Ingredients

With the first bite, the dosa’s flavors exploded, leaving an indelible mark on the taste buds. The masala dosa was meticulously prepared, boasting a medley of flavorsome ingredients. The addition of roasted peanuts in the masala was a delightful surprise, elevating the taste to new heights.

Chutneys and Accompaniments

There were two tantalizing chutneys as the accompaniments – the classic coconut chutney and a red chutney. Additionally, a serving of Sambhar complemented the dish impeccably, enhancing the overall gastronomic experience.

Crowded Yet Worth the Wait

Despite the bustling environment and a brief wait for the table, the overall experience was worth every moment. The lively ambiance and the promise of scrumptious food made the wait negligible in comparison to the delight that awaited us.

Overall Experience

My visit to Chotiwala Restaurant in Rishikesh was a delightful culinary journey. The charming restaurant truly excels in delivering an authentic and flavorsome dining experience.
