Nuts, including Almonds and Cashews, are a rich source of Protein, Healthy Fats, and Vitamins. They contribute to Heart Health, aid in Weight Management, and provide a fulfilling Snack option.

Ladoo, a traditional Indian sweet, has been an integral part of festivities for ages. However, the use of refined sugars and flours might compromise its health benefits.

The Dates and Nuts Ladoo serves as a healthier variant, offering a powerhouse of nutrients in every bite, crafted without any artificial sweeteners or flours. It offers a blend of natural sweetness and nutty goodness, catering to both taste and health.

Let’s get started with the recipe.

550 Grams deseeded Dates
(Weigh after removing the seeds)
350 Grams Almonds
150 Grams Cashews
30 Grams Raisins
75 Grams Poppy Seeds
  1. Heat a pan on low to medium heat and dry roast the Poppy Seeds for 3 to 4 minutes or until they turn slightly golden.
  2. Once roasted, transfer the roasted Poppy Seeds to a bowl and let them cool down.
  3. Keep it aside for further use.
  1. Take deseeded Dates and put them in a mixer grinder along with roasted Poppy Seeds.
  2. Grind it into a coarse mixture or soft and sticky paste.
  1. Heat a pan on low to medium heat and roast the Almonds and Cashews until they become fragrant and lightly golden.
  2. I have used 1 tsp Ghee (Clarified Butter) to roast these nuts but if you want to make it vegan-friendly you can dry roast these nuts without using Ghee. Usage of Ghee for roasting is not mandatory.
  3. After roasting, switch off the flame and transfer these nuts on a plate and let them cool down.
  4. Once cooled, chop these roasted nuts.
  1. Add these chopped roasted Nuts along with Raisins to the Dates and Poppy Seeds paste.
  2. Mix everything well until it forms a homogeneous mixture.
  3. Take small portions of the mixture and roll it between your palms to form small round balls or ladoos.
  4. Repeat the process until all the mixture is used to make ladoos.
  5. Place the ladoos on a plate or in an airtight container and let them sit at room temperature.

Delicious and healthy dates and nuts ladoos, enhanced with poppy seeds, are now ready to be enjoyed as a nutritious snack or dessert! Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.

Note: Adjust the quantity of nuts or poppy seeds according to your preference. You can also add shredded coconut or sesame seeds for variation.
