Quiche, Tart And Pie

Quiche, Tart and Pie all these three are French Shortcrust Pastries with some sort of filling over their crust bases. All these three are almost similar with no much differences.

Quiche:
- Quiche is an Open French Shortcrust Pastry with Savory filling usually Egg Custard (Egg and milk/cream), vegetables, meat over the pastry base.
- Its top is not covered with pastry. It has an Open top.
- A Quiche is always Savoury. This is never be Sweet.
Tart:
- Tart is also an Open French Shortcrust Pastry with some filling over the pastry base.
- The filling of Tart can be either Sweet or Savory.
- Its top is also not covered with pastry. It also has an Open top.
Pie:
- Pie is either with an Open top or with a pastry Covering on top. This can be made in 3 ways.
- First is, Filled Pie (Single Crust or Bottom Crust Pie). It has an Open top. In this, we place the filling over the pastry at bottom after lining the baking dish with pastry.
- Top Crust Pie has a pastry covering on top and fillings in the bottom of the dish.
- Two Crust Pie has the fillings completely enclosed in the pastry shell. After lining the dish with a pastry, we place the filling over it. Then its top is covered with a pastry.
- It has either an open top or a pastry covering on top and the filling of Pie can either be Sweet or Savory.
