INGREDIENTS:
To prepare this delectable dish, you’ll require the following ingredients:
150 Grams Poha (Flattened Rice) |
2 tsp Oil |
1 tsp Mustard Seeds |
Curry Leaves (a sprig) |
2 Green Chillies (Chopped) |
2 Onions (Finely Chopped) |
¼ cup Peanuts (Roasted) |
1 tsp Turmeric Powder |
2 tsp Sugar |
Salt to Taste |
2 tsp Lemon Juice |
STEP-BY-STEP RECIPE GUIDE:
1: Rinse the Poha:

- Take the Poha in a sieve and rinse it under running water for a few seconds. Let the water drain at the bottom of the sieve.
- Now, let the Poha rest in a sieve for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile we’ll prepare its seasoning.
2: Prepare the Kanda Base:

- Heat Oil in a pan.
- Add Mustard Seeds and Curry Leaves. Allow them to splutter.
- Be cautious, as ingredients may splatter a bit in the hot Oil.
- Now add Green Chilies, and finely chopped Onions.
- Sauté a little bit or till onions become translucent. Don’t overcook the onions.
- Now add Roasted Peanuts, Turmeric Powder, Sugar, and Salt.
- Cook it a little bit so that the rawness of Turmeric goes away.
- Mix well. Kanda Base is ready.
3: Combine Poha and Kanda Base:

- Add the rinsed and drained Poha to the prepared seasoning.
- Gently mix all the ingredients, ensuring the Poha blends well with the seasoning or Kanda Base. Don’t mash the Poha.
- Drizzle Lemon Juice for a tangy flavor.
- Cook it for 2 minutes on low to medium flame and our fluffy and moist Kanda Poha is ready.
- Garnish the Kanda Poha with freshly chopped coriander leaves and serve.
Note:
- Always use thicker Poha for this recipe.
